No More 700MB iOS Updates with Over-The-Air in iOS5

To all of you developers out there, be sure to get the latest beta of iOS 5. iOS 5 Beta 4 is the first software update that uses Apple’s new Over-The-Air updating system. So what is so cool about this new system? Well someone must have answered your ISP’s prayers as the new updates are a mere 133MB compared to the usuall 700MB to 800MB .ipsw files. This not only saves you money but plenty of time.

But how did they get the file size to be so small? With some very smart tweaking. The update only updates code that has been changed or updated since the last version, thus making for a much smaller downlod… about 691MB smaller. Try saying that 5 times.
